They "didn't allow that when we were state champions at the drum cores" or whatever. Even though they had said that it wasn't about winning so many times. They don't get that we Do actually have lives outside of band. Of course they don't. they get payed for it. Band is there job. Band is allowed to be their lives... But they can't expect KIDS (even high schoolers) to make it their life. It's crazy. But... yeah... We made a clean sweep at the competition. All caption awards plus first place... But I've been really tired lately, so...
2004-10-10 [LonelyTylenol]: directly before and after our show I was fighting with my sister. I'm probably working a week out of... maybe 36 hours of sleep. It's not working well.
2004-10-10 [FalseReality]: yesterday we went to plaino east marching competition, one of the hardest marching competition in our region. some how in the prelims we made a 1st division and got 10th place (doesnt seem good, but for plaino east, it is great) and we were gonna go to the finals but it got rained out. it was cool though anyway.

2004-10-11 [LonelyTylenol]: On the bus trip home from our first competition, they were trying to close the hatch on the roof of the bus, because it was cold, but it broke and the emergency alarm buzzer thing went off for five minutes, while the drumline guys held the hatch on. Had they let go, it would have flown off. Eventually, they got it to latch, but those five minutes gave everyone a severe headache.

We're staying in a hotel and everything, rather than a gym floor like most bands do, and it's going to be so much fun. I can't wait... Except that I have to be at school at 8 Saturday morning to catch the bus and stuff... But the school's debate team has to be there at 6 for their tournament. Poor things... Hey, everybody! Guess what?! I'm a geek! I'm going to try to join the math team. I figure marching band's almost over, and it'll give me something to do... Besides pep band... And Jazz band... And taking lessons on tuba, sax, and maybe mallet percussion... Details details!

2004-10-18 [LonelyTylenol]: Never mind... But thanks... GUESS WHAT?! Last night was the mid-Iowa band championships in Ankeny, Iowa. That school, let me tell you, is flat-out rich. And, I apologize if I offend anyone here, but Iowa lives up to the stereotypes. A lot of businesses had on their signs "Welcome mid-Iowa bands" and stuff like that. I mean, yeah, band is awesome, but any place who respects the band's awesome-ness obviously has nothing "better" to do, like "real" sports. Well, anyways, we got seconds place! With a score of 92, we beat our sister school (one of two other MN bands perforing) by 3.3 points and missed first place by 2.8. It was awesome! No one expected to get first there. I mean, blue..

I didn't do particularly poorly, but I'm definitely not one of the best two that tried out and that's all they needed for altos. I really wanted to be in Jazz 1, though, because I'm afraid that the people in jazz 2 (they let anyone in) will be lazy and not willing to practice at home and the band will sound bad... And I hate that thought... I really really do... Today was also the practice drum major audition. The current drum majors correct anything we've been practicing wrong, then we conduct for the school. If it's an image of an object you own, you can take your own pictures. But, basically, yeah. You open paint, then open the picture in paint, and then you add words. It's really simple. I might call it rock, or even pop-rock (because I'm sure that'd make a lot of people happier). To be honest, I'm more of a musicals person. My favorite channel on my dish is the "Broadway's Best" Sirius music channel. I'm such a loser.
2005-03-27 [Guano07]: im back from six flags...OMG! Audio Adrenaline was awesome. and the lead singer did a cowbell solo which was funny and kewl, then he threw the drum stick he used into the aduience and i jumped up and had it in my palm, but before i could close my hand, some other person's hand hit the stick, and it fell out. i was that close to getting a stick at the concert.

I'm especially fond of the Sarah Brightman version, but, while you can find the soundtrack of that, it's impossible to find a DVD of it... Which just means I'll be buying the DVD of the new version.
